Using a "descriptive-analytical method", the present paper investigates the meaning and basis of rationalism adopted by Mu'tazilite in their interpretation of the Quran. "Mu'tazilite rationalism is that intellect priority over other proofs comes first in interpreting the Quran and that the soundness of Shari'ah statements and understanding of their purpose requires intellectual proofs. Accordingly, Mu'tazilites reject literalism in understanding religious texts and the Quran, and emphasize on the central role of intellect and intellectual objects of perception in the interpretation of the Quran. They regard the human nature of conventions and their position in language and recognizing the attributes of divine unity and justice as a condition for understanding the speaker's perception of religious knowledge. The bases of Mu'tazilite rationalism in interpretation include temporality of the Quran, interpretability of the Quran, instructive and emphatic nature of Quranic statements about divine unity and justice and conformity between the judgment of intellect and Quranic assertions رویکرد اندیشمندان معتزله در فهم متون دینی و تفسیر آیات قرآن، عقلی است. این مقاله با روش «توصیفی ـ تحلیلی» به بررسی معنا و مبنای عقل گرایی معتزله در تفسیر قرآن می پردازد. مقصود از «عقل گرایی معتزله در تفسیر» آن است که اولاً، در فهم و تفسیر قرآن، عقل مقدم بر دیگر ادله و حایز رتبه‌ی اول است. ثانیاً، صحت بیانات شرعی و فهم مراد آنها محتاج به ادله‌ی عقلی است. براین اساس، معتزله ظاهر گرایی در فهم متون دینی و قرآن را مردود دانسته اند و بر جایگاه محوری عقل و مدرکات عقلی در تفسیر قرآن تأکید دارند. آنان بشری بودن وضع و مواضعه در زبان و شناخت اوصاف توحید و عدل الهی را شرط دریافت قصد متکلم در معارف دینی برشمرده اند. پایه های عقل گرایی اعتزالی در تفسیر عبارت است از: حادث بودن قرآن، تفسیرپذیری قرآن، ارشادی و تأکیدی بودن بیانات قرآنی در توحید و عدل، و سازگاری حکم عقل با خطابات قرآنی. https://qoranshenakht.nashriyat.ir/sites/qoranshenakht.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/1_6.pdf
