He has also studied the challenges which the interpreters encounter in dealing with difficult syntactic structures or strange vocabularies in these verses as well as the role of different readings in this process. He, like other skeptic orientalists, has considered the chains of authorities relating Islamic traditions as totally invalid. He has also considered the attribution of the Qur’ānic readings to the first generation of Muslims, which is the only way to validate these readings, as fake and forgery. Rippin considers the influence of biblical concepts and theological-ideological motives effective in appearance of various readings in a period of time, which ultimately led to consolidation of the text. In this inquiry, his viewpoints concerning the origin of the discrepancy in the readings and their main functions have been elaborated upon and critically assessed. اندرو ریپین، یکی از برجسته ترین قرآن پژوهان معاصر، در مقالات متعدد، آیات 95 انبیاء، 40 اعراف، 24 نبأ و چالش های پیش روی مفسران در تعامل با ساختارهای نحوی دشوار یا واژگان غریب این آیات و نقش اختلاف قرائات در این روند را بررسی کرده است. او نیز مانند سایر خاورشناسان شکاک، اسانید روایات اسلامی را به طور کلی بی اعتبار دانسته و نسبت دادن قرائات به مراجعی از نسل نخست مسلمانان را جعلی و تنها عاملی برای اعتبار بخشیدن به این قرائات می داند. ریپین تأثیرپذیری از مفاهیم عهدینی و انگیزه های عقیدتی ـ کلامی را در پیدایش قرائات مختلف در بازه ای از زمان، که به تثبیت نهایی متن قرآن انجامید، مؤثر می داند. در این جستار، دیدگاه های وی در زمینه‌ی خاستگاه اختلاف قرائات و کارکرد اصلی آن تبیین و نقد شده است. https://qoranshenakht.nashriyat.ir/sites/qoranshenakht.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5_14.pdf
