Using a descriptive-analytical method, this paper studies the Mu'tazilite symbolic interpretation and Nasr Abu Zayd's symbolic interpretation viewpoint, as a well-known neo-Mu'tazilahi scholar, with a comparative approach. The research findings show that the Mu'tazilites symbolically interpret the appearance of verses, with exact theological and ideological basis, whenever they consider a certain verse in contrast with their rational foundations and five principles, particularly in terms of the purification of the divine essence. But, Nasr Abu Zayd uses the symbolic interpretation merely to prove the historicity of the Qur'an, and the basis for adapting its concepts to modernity by relying on different foundations with the Mu'tazilites, and ignoring their concerns about the purification of the divine essence. از مهم ترین اصول تفسیری مشترک میان مکتب معتزله و جریان مشهور به «نومعتزله»، مسئلة «تأویل» است که قرابت آن دو جریان به یکدیگر را به ذهن متبادر می کند، اما توجه به کارکرد آن نزد هریک از دو گروه، این قرابت را منتفی می سازد. نویسندگان این مقاله با روش «توصیف و تحلیل»، به بررسی تطبیقی دیدگاه تأویلی معتزله و نیز شخصیت مشهور نومعتزله، یعنی نصرحامد ابوزید پرداخته و به این نتیجه رسیده اند که معتزله با مبنایی کاملاً کلامی و اعتقادی، هرجا ظاهر آیات را با مبانی عقلی و اصول خمسة خویش، به ویژه در مسئلة تنزیه ذات الهی، ناسازگار می یافتند، دست به تأویل ظواهر آیات می زدند. اما نصرحامد ابوزید با تکیه بر مبانی متفاوت با معتزله و به دور از دغدغه های معتزله در تنزیه ذات الهی، از تأویل صرفاً برای اثبات تاریخ مندی قرآن و زمینه سازی برای تطبیق مفاهیم آن با مدرنیته بهره می برد. https://qoranshenakht.nashriyat.ir/sites/qoranshenakht.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/2_16.pdf
