Abstract:
This research aims to analyze the epistemological consequences of heedlessness from the perspective of Allameh Tabatabaei in *Tafsir al-Mizan*, examining the effects of heedlessness on human true knowledge in three distinct domains: knowledge of God, self-knowledge, and perceptual faculties. Heedlessness, as the primary obstacle to true knowledge—aligned with reality and the source of human felicity—deprives one of understanding divine truth, genuine self-awareness, and perceptual balance. Using a library-based method and content analysis of *al-Mizan*, this article demonstrates that heedlessness in the realm of theology veils a person from the divine encounter and sometimes even deprives them of it. In the domain of self-knowledge, due to the lack of understanding the direct relationship between forgetting God and forgetting oneself, a person is deprived of knowing their true essence. Furthermore, by causing disruption and deviation in perceptual faculties, heedlessness leads to numerous epistemological errors and incorrect insights. The findings of this research emphasize the importance of overcoming heedlessness to attain true knowledge.
