Qoran Shenakht

The Holy Qur'an, in numerous verses, calls the men to"remembrance" and considers achieving that degree the feature of “Ulu al-bab i.e. those who possess intellect. The great emphasis of the Holy Qur'an about remembrance makes man understand its meaning and reality in view of the Holy Quran, thus realizing and maintaining its continuity in his own self. The major meanings presented for "remembrance" in exegetical works are: “exhortation” "thinking" and “recollection” This paper prefers the term Tazakkur in the sense of "thinking" over other presented meanings through analyzing its origin and ultimately substantiates the view that "Tazakkur" in the verses speaking of it in the worldly abode refers to "thoughtfulness".
