Abstract:
In order to measure the validity of the interpretations provided by the interpreters of the text referring to the context, detailed knowledge about the whatness of "context" in the interpretation of the text is an obvious necessity, but what is presented as the definition of "context" in the field of text interpretation is subject to criticism and comments from some aspects. Using a descriptive–analytical method, this paper has examined the presented definition of "context" by some researchers and clarified what context is as a type of signifier different from other verbal signifiers. The results show that the "overall structure of words or sentences", which in the term of knowledge of principles, has a type status, cannot express what the context is, but we say that: "context" is "denotative relationships lacking the typical thesis that the speaker creates between the denotative parts of his speech". The effectiveness of this definition in the field of understanding and criticizing commentators' references to the context - for example, in summoning the thinking adjuncts in the verse 44 of Surah Nahl - is applied and proven in the light of the design and criticism of Allameh Tabataba'i's view and defending the validity of the famous view.
